Steel

"Chu'npo" was one of the currencies used in Cameroon before the colonial era. They were iron ornaments that were made in the shape of hoe heads. Much in the same way that other groups all over Africa made their currencies out of iron or steel shaped into spear heads and the likeness other tools. Sometimes larger than a person. "Chu'npo" were often about 70cm tall, skilfully forged ironworks and were a prestigious form of bride wealth. It is my belief that they were valuable not only because of the skill it took to make them, but that they also represented the actual tool in which you could easily convert the currency into. A kind of innate value representation. My pendant's form and material choice is inspired by this intrinsically valuable design. So I use 26C3 for my pendants, the same as the steel in my knives, with copper as an alternative.

Care: Rub with very fine steel wool if they tarnish. You can also apply food safe oil for light protection against tarnishing.
